Have I Told You Lately (Sad Conspiracy Anthem)
(Van Morrison / Slightly changed lyrics: Johannes "Ko-Do" Dittler 2023)

Have I told you lately that I told you
Have I told you that they bought and sold you
Your heart is filled with sadness
Your mind can't stand the madness
And makin' troubles is all you do

When I tried to tell some background story
'bout common facts and unknown, too
I still can hear your laughter
Somehow you didn't know better
And makin' troubles is all you do

There's a hope, almost divine
I know, not yours, but mine
It's not in vain
That at the end of the day
I shall not sing or say
That refrain again

Have I told you lately that I told you
Have I told you that they bought and sold you
Your heart is filled with sadness
Your mind can't stand the madness
And makin' troubles is all you do

...

But you will hear no laughter
For there's hope, ever after
There are some troubles we are through

This version was triggered by its title, obviously. First it was
an idea of turning it into a "Schwurbler-Hymne" (a somehow
triumphant "Anthem for Conspiracy Theorists" after the next
one becoming truth) in Viennese slang by subliminally
transforming "have I told you lately" into "haven't I told you"
and let them have some backfire.

But then, listening to Rod Stewart (whom I thought to be
the original singer - shame on me) I realized what some
slight changes to the lyrics could do. Applying those ideas
somehow changed that "haven't I told you"-approach into
something like "we all have been fooled, sorry you did not
see it"; feeling that "devine hope" we'll cope better next
time around... that's how the final lines I found...

So the Viennese version is off the table onto the shelf
where it may become a book, worth to be written - or at
least a true catchy "Schwurbler-Hymne"
